*1 $20 covers any and all maps of the series.  For example, you can use SSFB SA, and SSFB West SA and SSFB MS for $20.

Stand alone-  If you have MapSource, I recommend using that program to upload your maps.  That way, you can select which segment (of the split maps) and any other maps you have.  But if you don't have MapSource, you can still upload maps using the stand alone maps.  Beware though, loading maps to any Garmin receiver will erase all existing maps on the unit (this also is true when using MapSource).
MapSource- This install will allow you to install maps using MapSource.  Each map section provided in the install will be no larger than 8MB so you can select any maps that will fit into your unit.
Size- The large maps have been broken up into segments to allow those with GPSs of smaller capacity to download maps.  Some receivers have a map size limit of 8MB so that is the cut-off point.  Looking at the SSFB map, the total is 14.3MB, obvious not all the receivers can load this map.  But if that person wants to us it, he can down load either SSFB West or SSFB East.
Cost- Some maps are free; install the map in as map receivers as you wish but a few I am asking for a nominal fee to help defray the cost of the tools that I have bought to create these maps.  I don't plan on making any money from this but it would be nice that this isn't such a money drain.
Use- This is the intended use of the map.  Hiking maps include water features for reference and boating maps include land for reference.  For hiking map coverage, look at the "Park Coverage" page for details.
